GUS BATTS

Luiz Gustavo Battiston D’Avila Klas, commonly known as Gus Batts, is an artist who loves to design characters and create. A Brazilian who got tired of warm temperatures and palm trees, he moved to Winnipeg, Canada to finally understand the meaning of cold. Since April he’s been living in Vancouver and working for DHX Media. He is also a huge Star Wars fan.

Laura

LAURA BIFANO

Laura Bifano is a production artist and children’s book illustrator from Vancouver, BC. Since graduating from the Alberta College of Art and Design in 2008, she’s split her time between freelancing, fine art gallery work, and doing production art for feature films. She’s currently working on the My Little Pony movie, and her first kid’s book “In the Red Canoe” is out in October. In her spare time she can be found out with a paint kit and sketchbook, or at the local climbing gym.

A fan of bold lines and anything cartoony, Nicola went on to study traditional animation and now works as a character/prop designer in television. She enjoys fast food, weird retro junk, and cats.

ELAINE CHEN

Since graduating from college in 2013, Elaine Chen has continued to explore various roles in the animation industry. While also enjoying what colourful life Vancouver has to offer; she still enjoys the feeling of watching the paint on a blank canvas come alive with water and paintbrush the most.

JANICE CHU

Janice Chu is a concept and UI artist for both film and video games. She is currently working on The Lego Movie 2 at Animal Logic. Outside of work she art directs indie games and is working on her own game, Knight Hood.

ELISE HATHEWAY

Elise Hatheway is a Visual Development Artist working in the animation industry for almost a decade. She graduated from Savannah College of Art and Design in 2008 with a degree in Computer Animation. She was an artist at Reel FX Creative Studios in Dallas, TX for a number of years working on Free Birds, Book of Life, and Rock Dog. Currently she lives in Vancouver, BC, working on Lego 2 at Animal Logic. Outside of art, Elise soaks up anything sci-fi, loves eating jelly beans and sweet potatoes, and playing with her adorable Shibas, Reese and Koda.

Benjamin Hayte is a freelance artist based in Vancouver since 2013. Born and raised in France, Benjamin has a deep European influence in his creations which makes his work singular. He is passionate about animation and comics and is happy to be working in both industries.

A designer from Mexico City now based in Vancouver, Rafael Mayani studied Industrial Design at university but quickly moved to visual arts. He currently works as an Art Director at the animation studio Giant Ant. In his free time, Rafael also works on picture books and editorial illustration.

TESSA RIECKEN

Tessa Riecken is an artist who lives and works in Vancouver. She grew up on Vancouver Island and completed a BFA in painting at the University of Victoria.

Tessa currently works at Atomic Cartoons as a layout/background artist on Max & Ruby. When she isn’t drawing for the studio she is usually reading and making silly comics, taking commissions, or doodling dogs.

ALEXIA TRYFON

Alexia Tryfon works as a visual development artist in Vancouver. She loves hiking and exploring BC, but when she’s not in a forest somewhere, she’s most likely at home by the fire, drinking tea, drawing and cuddling one of three cats... trying to master it all. The cat usually wins.
